Welcome to Group 4F!
Group 4F is a free peer support group for adults (18+) who are the family members & friends of suicide attempt survivors, individuals living with suicidal ideation (thoughts) and/or a chronic (ongoing) mental health condition such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, borderline personality disorder, etc., (and many others not listed here…). Group 4F is not for suicide attempt survivors or suicide loss survivors unless you are also supporting a family member or friend who has a history of suicidal ideation, an attempt or an ongoing chronic mental health condition. (We do offer groups to support teen and adult suicide attempt survivors, and teen and adult suicide loss survivors. They are listed here.)
We know that mental health affects everyone and even young children have suicidal thoughts, attempt and even die by suicide. While our group serves adults, many of our members come because their loved ones are under the age of 18, so please join us if you know a child who is currently struggling.
We understand that loving someone who is struggling can often feel difficult and isolating so we gather together monthly to exchange ideas, coping strategies, self-care tips, tools for our loved ones, and to find support in a safe and non-judgmental space from others who share similar experiences. We leave strengthened and with renewed energy, able to help lift up and support our loved ones (or step back if that is what is necessary and healthy for us as individuals). We also leave knowing that we are doing what we can to support ourselves and our family/friends in the healthiest way possible to the best of our ability with the information and resources we have available to us at this time.
Group 4F is led by a trained peer-facilitator with several family members who have chronic mental health conditions and past hospitalizations who understands that loving someone who is struggling can often feel difficult, isolating and exhausting.
Our group meets on the last Sunday each month from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
We normally meet in the Thersa Dando Meeting room at the Sheridan Library however the Arapahoe Library District has temporarily suspended use of their facilities due to Coronavirus-19 so we will be hosting our meetings online/via phone using Zoom. We will resume our in-person meetings as soon as they allow us to return.
The Sheridan Library is near the intersection of Federal Blvd. & Oxford Ave. (3425 W. Oxford Ave.) in Denver, CO. The Meeting Room is in the first hallway on your left by the vending machines before you enter the main library. We want you to know that we are here for you, and we hope you will join us at our next meeting.
Group 4F is a program of The Hope Group. The Hope Group is an organization in the Denver-metro area committed to reducing Colorado suicide rates by providing suicide prevention, intervention & postvention services, and peer support opportunities for individuals impacted by suicide. More information about The Hope Group is available at www.hope-group.org.
*The Hope Group, LLC is appreciative of the space that the Sheridan library provides for our meetings and workshops and wishes to acknowledge that the granting of permission by the Arapahoe Library District to use library facilities does not constitute an endorsement by the Library District staff or Board of Trustees.
